Sens. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Bob Menendez, D-N.J., got into a heated argument during a Senate Foreign Relations Committee meeting on Wednesday over the Biden administration’s foreign policy in Egypt.

Menendez instructed Cruz not to use “words” after Cruz claimed that Cruz had observed that “yes, the Biden Administration is holding hostage $130 Million for Egypt, and demanding that 16 be released from jail.”

Menendez denied that he “recognized” the chairman of the committee.[d]This was followed by “Don’t use words I haven’t said”

Menendez clarified that he did not claim anyone was taking hostages.

Cruz asked Menendez if he denied the administration was withholding $130 million in military aid to Egypt to which Menendez said he didn’t need to be cross-examined by the Texas senator.

SEN. CRUZ: YOUNGKIN WIN A ‘BIG DAMN DEAL,’ DEMOCRATS ARE FREAKED OUT

“You’re cross-examining me,” Cruz replied.

Menendez claimed Cruz made a mistake and beat on his spokes while Cruz continued speaking.

Menendez ordered Menendez to givel, “The senator will withhold.” “How about you withhold?” Cruz retorted.

Menendez threatened then to abort the meeting. Cruz, however, continued to accuse Menendez of interrupting Cruz.

Cruz claimed that the New Jersey Democrat had also started a battle with him over his social media accounts. He stated, “I know that you want to do it for YouTube.

“Are they going to permit me to speak?” After more than one minute of talking, Cruz asked. “That’s very kind of you,” he said, after Menendez told him to continue. “I will also say, Mr. Chairman that I appreciated your comedy lecture.”

At issue was the Biden administration’s September decision to withhold the aid on the condition that the Middle Eastern country improve its record on human rights, including the release of 16 unidentified prisoners.

Cruz stated that he will speak “precisely” more, claiming Menendez had told him he was satisfied with the fact that names of Egyptian prisoners were being classified and kept from the American public.

The hold on aid was called “undoubtedly a quid proquo.”

“’You will get your $130 million that Congress has appropriated when you release these 16 individuals from prison,’” Cruz said.

He stated that he was interested in knowing if prisoners were terrorists, Muslim Brotherhood members, or had they committed any violent crimes. These are questions that the American people want to answer.
