David Sacks, a tech entrepreneur, defended his support of Florida Republican Governor. Ron DeSantis in an interview on Bloomberg TV
Sacks was interviewed by Emily Chang, the host of “Bloomberg Technology”, Tuesday about his support for DeSantis.
“Why support such divisive candidates, particularly given the current global health crisis?” Chang asked.
What makes him so divisive? [Democratic California Gov.]Gavin Newsom, on the other end of the spectrum? Sacks replied. “What I would argue is that words like ‘polarizing’ and ‘divisive’ assume a normative baseline in which everybody agrees. All of the people in the tech sector agree because everyone comes from a similar information bubble. Any deviation from that norm is seen as divisive.

Chang continued to question Sacks’ support for DeSantis as opposed to other less controversial politicians.
So, why DeSantis when you can host fundraisers to support other candidates? DeSantis, I’m sure you believe in Florida. [Miami]Chang stated that Mayor Suarez and Chang, both on the last hour of the show were on opposite ends of the spectrum.”
Sacks responded that he actually supported Suarez. He explained that DeSantis is his support because of his lockdown policy.
DeSantis is the reason I like him. He was the first governor that stopped such insane lockdowns. He came up with the best policy to end lockdowns, and that was to do so in spite of hostile media. That is something I admire. It’s something I admire when someone stands firm on an issue despite hostile media. Sacks stated that he supports him because of this.
