Senator Mike Lee: It is my hope that Sen. Joe Manchin will switch parties

The ongoing conflicts between Senator Joe Manchin, D.W.Va. and his fellow Congressmen was the topic of Sen. Mike Lee’s, R-Utah.

Trey Gowdy discussed recent rumors about Manchin changing parties in an effort to remain independent in light conflict with other Democrats. Manchin denied these rumors, but said last week that he was open to discussing becoming independent with fellow Democrats.

LARRY KUDLOW: ‘BIG SNOOP’ IS THE WORST OF A ‘MILLION BAD IDEAS’ BY DEMOCRATS

Manchin stated, “The only thing we ever discussed was if I’m an embarrassing to my, and my Democratic colleagues’, my caucus. The president being the Democratic Leader of the Democrat Party. Chuck Schumer, and all the rest.” “I stated me as a moderate centrist Democrat. If that causes you a problem, let me know. I would switch to being an independent but still keep in touch with Democrats.

While Manchin wouldn’t say whether he plans to switch parties soon, Gowdy saw some sense in the argument.

“Honestly, why wouldn’t he? Joe Biden didn’t carry a single county in West Virginia. Joe Manchin shares nothing with the squad so it makes no sense for him to vote the same way as the squad. Gowdy questioned.

Lee was also supportive of the Manchin switching party idea.

There is plenty of time. You could always switch to another party if you wanted. I encourage him to do so. There’s no reason why he belongs with the party of inflation, why he belongs with the party of lawlessness, why he opted to remain with the party that’s harassing him and intimidating him and belittling him at every turn just so they can fundamentally remake the American economy and American society. Lee stated, “Joe Manchin must leave the Democratic Party and I will embrace him when he comes to our caucus.”

Gowdy also asked what expectations could be placed on Manchin, if Biden didn’t carry any country in West Virginia. Lee said that Congress’ progressive members only view Manchin as an opportunity to vote to make America socialist.

US Representatives Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), Ilhan Omar (D-MN)(2R), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) (L), and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) (R) hold a press conference, to address remarks made by US President Donald Trump earlier in the day, at the US Capitol in Washington, DC on July 15, 2019. - President Donald Trump stepped up his attacks on four progressive Democratic congresswomen, saying if they're not happy in the United States "they can leave."

They see a way to make America more socialist and socialist. What they see here is if they belittle him and intimidate him enough that somehow he’ll relent. That’s, of course, not going to happen,” Lee explained.

Gowdy then changed gears and discussed vaccine mandate efforts of the Democrat party including President Biden. Lee decried President Obama’s efforts to impose vaccines on him, calling it the “most excessive abuse of presidential federal suprareach” in over seventy years.

“Because the president has not had the decency to issue the order, so there’s nothing to sue on. We don’t even know the precise legal theory on which he’ll rely. Sooner or later, he’s going to have to do this, but in the meantime, he’s relying on corporate America, corporations with more than 99 employees to do his culling for him, to do his dirty work for him. Many of whom are putting these people on an unpaid administrative leave so that they can’t even get unemployment,” Lee said.

Lee ended saying “That’s sick and wrong and the President of the United States should be ashamed of himself. And if he’s going to do this, he could at least have the decency to do it rather than threatening to do it and thereby bypassing the accountability of the courts.”
