Scalise says GOP memo on closed-door Birx testimony confirms world was 'misled' on COVID

FIRST ON FOX Republican House Minority whip Steve ScaliseR-La. said that a memo was by RepublicanThe leadership of the House Select Committee Coronavirus Crisis outlining Dr. Deborah Birx’s closed-door congressional testimony confirms the world was “misled” on the origins of COVID-19.

The memo, exclusively obtained by Fox News from a GOP source, provides “key takeaways” from Birx’s recent committee testimony to Congress on Oct. 12 and Oct. 13 and gives fresh insight into the origins of the virus as well as the U.S. government’s pandemic response.

Scalise said in a statement that “President Biden” and Democrats have “politicized Covid right from the beginning and refused to acknowledge it’s origins from China.” “Republicans have been sounding the alarm on these issues for well over year, and Dr. Birx’s closed-door testimony confirms that the world was misled.”

The number 2 House Republican stated, “Perhaps the most alarmingly, she admitted that in many instances the Biden Administration has contributed to vaccine Hesitancy. She could have done more to work alongside governors to stop deaths.” “The Biden Administration should be held responsible for the mismanagement of this pandemic.”

The memo highlights several of Birx’s testimonial revelations, including that there were preventable deaths and that “neither the federal government or state and local governments are doing everything that they could at this moment.”

Notably, Birx’s testimony confirmed to the committee that the Wuhan Institute of Virology was engaging in American taxpayer-supported controversial gain-of-function research.

Recent revelations have revealed that the National Institute of Health gave taxpayer money for Wuhan Institute of Virology. The Wuhan Institute of Virology is well-known as a center for bat coronavirus research. It also uses so-called “gain of functionality” methods which involve manipulating viruses to make them more spreadable for research.

Additionally, Birx reportedly criticized the administration’s strategy of blaming the unvaccinated for the continuing pandemic.

“… You don’t single out a group and blame what occurs on that group. Birx stated that it was your responsibility to meet with the group to discuss the issue and to reach an agreement on vaccine use.

“We should not be stigmatizing and further putting people in a box that implies that they somehow don’t have – – that they’re somehow not processing the information…,” she continued. By stigmatizing individuals for their differences, we don’t ever alienate people in our communities.

Birx stressed the importance of working together with leaders in states, such as governors, during times of crisis.

The committee was told by She that anyone “sitting in Washington” is a violation of the Constitution. [D.C.] and you’re not talking to the states but once a week on a governors’ call and you don’t have people representing you in those states and talking to those governors, then that’s on [the administration]”

Birx also took aim at China’s role in suppressing information on the virus to the World Health Organization (WHO) at the onset of the pandemic, saying she believes “that there had to be evidence of human-to-human transmission weeks before the WHO or the world was notified” and that China “misled” the world on the virus.

She also stated that she thought China had given false information about the virus to WHO, which resulted in two weeks delay before the world was able confirm human-to-human COVID-19 transmission.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, Biden’s chief medical adviser, previously denied to Congress that the NIH was funding gain-of-function research in Wuhan, China, drawing accusations of lying from Senator Rand Paul, R-Ky.

Fauci’s claims received reNeueed scrutiny after a new Let me knowOn Wednesday, Dr. Richard Ebright was made public as a high-ranking official of the NIH. He “corrects untruthful statements” by Fauci, the ex-head of the NIH Dr. Francis Collins.

Collins left her post earlier this month. She also said that she did not resign because of the COVID-19 controversy.
