Dak Prescott assured that he wouldn’t miss any opportunity after straining the right side of his right calves on the Overtime touchdown passThis was Dallas Cowboys first win over New England since 1987.

He is confident that the team will live up to his pledge because he has been the star quarterback. Prescott, despite having to take a week off, is still optimistic based on his recent experience with his teammates.

Michael Gallup, a receiver, hasn’t been able to play since the opener. This is due to a strain in his calf. Zack Martin, a four-time All-Pro, missed five of the last five games after suffering calf strain. He sustained an injury in practice. The strain was exacerbated 10 days later during the second game.

Prescott had difficulty getting into the locker after his dramatic win over the Patriots, 35-29. Prescott wore a boot and needed assistance in walking to meet reporters. Monday was the scheduled day for an MRI.

“I’ve got a lot of confidence in myself and the medical team, and as I said I feel good,” Prescott said. The boot is only a precaution. Didn’t hurt as bad obviously when you score and win the game.”

It is the same injury that Prescott suffered in his lower leg in last week’s season-ending right ankle compound fracture. Prescott stated that he did not know whether there was more cause for concern.

Prescott caught 445 yards of passing. This is more than the Patriots allow under Bill Belichick (postseasons inclusive). With 567 yards, the Cowboys had also the highest total yards against New England during the Belichick era.

There are no questions at this point about the Cowboys’ (5-1) offense.

Prescott’s injury last year meant that they had to play the same game but with a loss record. With 14 takeaways, the NFC East’s leaders have won five consecutive games.

“We know we’re for real,” said Prescott, the first Dallas quarterback with at least three TD passes in four consecutive games. “I don’t think we’re out here trying to send a message to anybody, more so than we’re showing it to ourselves.”

WHAT’S WORKING

Even more impressive was the passing game than the opener. Prescott passed for 403. yards against Super Bowl champ Tampa Bay. Prescott finished 36-of-51 as the Cowboys overcome an inefficient start to the second half, when just three attempts inside the 20 led to three points. Prescott made the interception from the end zone in the first half.

CeeDee lamb, WR, had nine catches and 149 yards for his career best. To win the overtime game, his second touchdown was a 35-yarder. Prescott displayed patience by completing seven passes for 50 yards to Ezekiel Elliott, a season record. Dalton Schultz (TE) had another impressive game (5 catches, and 79 cards). Dallas loses if Cedrick Wilson fails to make an impressive leaping grab of 13 yards on fourth-and-4 in regulation.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Both game management and penalties continue to pose problems. After receiving 12 penalties for 115, Dallas finished Sunday with 48 penalty yards and the 4th-most yards (405). Halftime saw the Cowboys trailing by 10 points after dominating for most of their first half. They had 76 penalty yards.

Mike McCarthy was wrongly accused of attempting to challenge Elliott on an early fourth-and-1 play. There wasn’t any evidence Elliott had passed the first down line. By using a timeout that was too confusing with only 24 seconds left, McCarthy gave 20 seconds to the Patriots when they needed it most.

DO NOT BUY OUT

The fourth quarter ended with CB Trevon diggs looking like he was going to be a failure. He returned an interceptions 42 yards, giving him the win. Diggs now has six interceptions, tying an NFL-record with seven and two TDs. When Kendrick Bourne ran by Diggs on the 75-yard touchdown pass, the Patriots were back ahead. This was the risk associated with high production. The pass was also mishandled by Safety Damontae Kasee.

STOCK DEPOSIT

LG Connor Williams was almost denied the Cowboys victory with his third holding violation of the game. He made an unsportsmanlike call, which nearly cost them the game. Cowboys faced third and 25 outside their field goal range because of the unsportsmanlike penal. Prescott’s 24 yard pass to Lamb was the catalyst for Greg Zuerlein’s 49-yard goal.

INJURIES

Tyron Smith injured his left ankle and neck during practice, which limited him for the remainder of the week. Smith was able to return to the game after going to locker room.

KEY NUMBER

9 — The number of 400-yard passing games for Prescott. He matches his combined sum of all his predecessors. This list includes Troy Aikman (who didn’t have any in another era) as well Roger Staubach. Tony Romo, the Club’s leading career passer, had five. Don Meredith had 2. Aikman and current Cowboys offensive coach Kellen Moore each had one.

Next Steps

Three games lead is already held by the Cowboys in the Division. Dallas will play Minnesota at Halloween on October 22nd after the open week. This will be McCarthy’s best win in the second season of a tough first campaign, which saw the Cowboys finish 6-10.
