Joe Burrow, the Cincinnati Bengals’ quarterback, has a record of 4-2 through six games. The Bengals currently sit in first place in AFC North with the Baltimore Ravens one game back. Former LSU graduate has 1,540 passing yards and 14 touchdowns, as well as seven interceptions.
Phil Simms, the former Super Bowl champion and New York Giants quarterback, recently weighed in on Burrow’s early-season success and compared him to one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.

Simms stated that “you’re looking at Joe Burrow like a modern-day Joe Montana” on CBS Sports’ “NFL Today” earlier in the week.
Simms expressed his admiration for Burrow’s ability to bounce back after his ACL injury, which ended his rookie year early.
Simms is currently an analyst at CBS. He said, “I’ve thought it for approximately a month. ‘This man reminds me of Joe Montana.” Simms is smooth, graceful, and has great feet. Knows how to get in and out of the pocket. He throws the ball with incredible rhythm.
“Joe” [Montana] is one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time … Joe Burrow’s a little quicker, probably a little more athletic, and maybe a little bit of a stronger arm than Joe Montana. It’s just that uncanny ability of knowing how to play the game. I believe that Joe Burrow is an athlete from his childhood.

He added, “It shows when he plays.” He said, “His movements in the pocket and buying time have been really, really great for him this year.”
Simms said that he’s impressed with how the Bengals have built their team around Burrow.
The Bengals reunited Burrow with former LSU teammate Ja’Marr Chase by taking the superstar wide receiver with their first-round pick in the NFL Draft. The team also signed Riley Reiff as a veteran tackle and took Jackson Carman, guard, with their second-rounder.
Logan Wilson, a second-year defensive linebacker, has developed into one the most talented young players in the league. The team also added Trey Hendrickson from the New Orleans Saints, who has already recorded 5.5 sacks.

Simms stated, “They are on the right path.” They can play the game. Joe Mixon is an icon. Joe Burrow, the receiver corps. A front four is key to having different makers. It’s about that. Look at the teams who struggle every week to win… Show me the difference-makers. They are the Bengals.
They have some strength. This is how Zac Taylor has performed. The team has made some purchases and allowed some people to go, but everything appears to be going well.
